Woman Allegedly Gang-Raped in Ambulance After Fainting During Home Guard Test

A 26-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in a moving ambulance in Bihar’s Gaya district after she fainted during a Home Guard recruitment test. The incident happened on July 24 at the Bihar Military Police grounds in Bodh Gaya.

The woman collapsed while taking part in a physical test. She was put in an ambulance for medical help. In her complaint, she said she was unconscious during the ride and was raped by several men inside the vehicle. She later informed hospital staff and police when she regained full awareness.

A police case has been filed, and two men have been arrested. They are Vinay Kumar, the ambulance driver, and Ajit Kumar, a technician. Both are in custody and being questioned. CCTV footage has confirmed the vehicle’s route and timing.

The woman said she was only partly aware of what was happening during the ride but later recalled that three to four men were involved in the assault. A special team and forensic experts are investigating the case.

The incident has sparked outrage across the state. Lok Janshakti Party MP Chirag Paswan criticised the Bihar government, saying crime in the state is out of control. He said the government must act or face serious consequences. He also questioned why such crimes keep happening even after arrests are made.

The woman is now receiving treatment and counselling. Police have said more arrests may follow as the investigation continues.
