In a shocking case from Madhya Pradesh, a woman who appeared emotional on camera after her husband’s death has now been accused of planning his murder.
The victim, Purohit Devkrishna, a 28-year-old spice trader, was found dead at his home on the night of April 7. His body had multiple injuries caused by a sharp weapon, raising suspicion of a violent attack.
Soon after the incident, his wife Priyanka Purohit gave a statement to police and on camera. She claimed that a group of robbers had broken into their house, tied her up, threatened both of them, searched the cupboards, and attacked her husband when he resisted.
In her statement, she said the attackers covered her mouth, dragged her, and warned they would kill her husband if she screamed. She also claimed that valuables worth around ₹3.5 lakh were stolen during the incident.
The video of her statement, where she appeared crying and disturbed, is now widely circulating on social media.
However, as police started investigating, her story began to fall apart.
Officials said evidence at the scene did not match the robbery claim. During further questioning and investigation, police uncovered a completely different story.
According to investigators, Priyanka had allegedly planned the murder with her lover Kamlesh. They hired a contract killer, Surendra Bhati, to carry out the attack. The deal was reportedly fixed at ₹1 lakh, out of which ₹50,000 was paid in advance.
Police said the murder was carefully planned. On the night of the incident, the main door of the house was intentionally left unlocked so that the attacker could enter easily.
Surendra Bhati allegedly entered the house and attacked Devkrishna while he was asleep, giving him no chance to defend himself.
After the murder, the room was deliberately disturbed to make it look like a robbery. Items were scattered around, and valuables were reported missing.
However, during a search of the house, police recovered the jewellery that Priyanka had claimed was stolen. This became a key clue in exposing the false story.
Investigators also found that her initial statement about multiple robbers and violence was fabricated to mislead police and avoid suspicion.
Family members of the victim have made serious allegations against Priyanka. His sister said that the marriage had been troubled for years and claimed Priyanka often insulted her brother.
She alleged that Priyanka would make remarks about his appearance and had frequent fights with him. The family also suspected that she was involved with someone else for a long time.
Devkrishna’s mother has demanded the strictest punishment for all the accused. She said she wants justice for her son and called for strong action in the case.
Police have arrested the accused and are continuing the investigation. The case has shocked many people, especially after the video of Priyanka’s emotional statement turned out to be part of a planned cover-up.
