Elon Musk’s SpaceX-owned Starlink has begun its first phase of hiring in India, marking a major step toward the company’s satellite broadband rollout in the country. The move comes as Starlink prepares to launch its commercial services in India by late 2025 or early 2026.
The company has posted job openings for several finance and accounting positions, including tax manager, accounting manager, payments manager, and senior treasury analyst. All positions are based in Bengaluru, which will serve as Starlink’s operational hub in India.
In its job listings on LinkedIn and the SpaceX careers portal, the company stated that the accounting manager will oversee financial reporting, statutory compliance, and expansion of accounting systems to support Starlink’s growing operations in India. The company has specified that the roles are strictly on-site, and only candidates with valid local work authorisation will be considered.
Starlink’s hiring push aligns with its ongoing preparations to meet regulatory and infrastructure requirements before the service launch. The company recently demonstrated its broadband technology to officials in Mumbai as part of the Department of Telecommunications’ (DoT) lawful interception and security compliance process.
Starlink has reportedly applied for approval to set up three gateway stations in Mumbai, Chennai, and Noida. Plans are also in place to establish additional gateways in cities such as Chandigarh, Kolkata, and Lucknow after the initial launch phase.
Once operational, Starlink will compete with other satellite internet providers, including Jio Satellite and Eutelsat OneWeb, both of which have received regulatory clearance and await spectrum allocation. The Department of Telecommunications and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) are still finalising the framework for satellite broadband spectrum pricing and distribution.
Starlink’s entry into India is expected to significantly expand broadband connectivity, especially in remote and underserved regions, strengthening the government’s push toward digital inclusion across the nation.
