Reasi Joins Vande Bharat Route as New Stop from October 29

The Northern Railways has announced that the Katra–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express will have an additional stoppage at Reasi station from October 29, on an experimental basis, officials said on Friday.

Currently, the semi-high-speed train halts only at Banihal between Katra and Srinagar.

“Local residents had requested more stoppages between Katra and Srinagar for the convenience of regional passengers. Considering their demand, the Railways has decided to provide a two-minute halt at Reasi on a trial basis,” an official said.

According to an official order, the Vande Bharat Express will stop at Reasi in both directions for two minutes. The commercial department has been instructed to monitor ticket sales at the new stoppage and submit a report within five months for review.

“The stoppage should not be withdrawn unless advised by this office,” the order stated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Katra–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express on June 6, marking the first-ever direct train connection between the Kashmir Valley and the Jammu region.

Officials said the introduction of the Vande Bharat service has significantly improved connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar, receiving an overwhelming response from travellers. The Reasi halt will be the first additional stoppage since the service began.
