PM Modi to launch new health campaign for women and children on September 17

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ on September 17, coinciding with the 8th Poshan Maah. The campaign is a major initiative to strengthen healthcare and nutrition services for women, adolescent girls, and children across India.

Jointly led by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the drive will run from September 17 to October 2 at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, District Hospitals and other government health facilities.

More than one lakh health camps will be organised, making this the country’s largest-ever health outreach programme for women and children. Services in gynaecology, paediatrics, ENT, eye care, dental, dermatology, and psychiatry will be mobilised through medical colleges, central government institutions and private hospitals.

Health minister JP Nadda said the initiative aims to ensure better access to quality healthcare, early detection of diseases, and awareness on nutrition and lifestyle practices. He also urged private hospitals and stakeholders to join this Jan Bhagidaari effort.

The campaign will focus on anaemia prevention, maternal and child health, immunisation, menstrual hygiene, balanced diets, obesity prevention, mental health and voluntary blood donation. Central institutions like AIIMS, Defence and Railway hospitals, ESIC facilities and Institutes of National Importance will play a key role in extending specialist services to the last mile.

Community mobilisation will be led by ASHAs, ANMs, Anganwadi workers, self-help groups, youth volunteers and local bodies, with the active participation of ministers, MPs and other public representatives.

According to the government, the initiative reflects the Prime Minister’s vision of health, nutrition, fitness and a developed India by 2047.
