OG Box Office Day 1: Pawan Kalyan’s Action Thriller Races Past ₹25 Crore in India; Set to Challenge Devara and Jawan

Pawan Kalyan’s latest action thriller, They Call Him OG—marketed simply as OG—has stormed the box office on its opening day, setting the pace for one of the biggest openings in Indian cinema. The film, which marks Emraan Hashmi’s Telugu cinema debut, reportedly crossed ₹100 crore worldwide in advance bookings alone, fueling expectations of record-breaking collections on its first day.

According to Sacnilk, OG has earned ₹25.8 crore net in India by 6 PM on release day. This strong performance positions the film to surpass the opening day collections of Pawan Kalyan’s previous release, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, which earned ₹34 crore net on day one. With advance bookings still flowing in, industry analysts predict that OG could cross the ₹50 crore mark in India, potentially challenging other recent hits like Coolie, Jawan, and Leo.

The film has also made waves overseas, earning $3 million (approximately ₹26 crore) in North America through paid premieres alone. This suggests a worldwide opening day total likely to exceed ₹150 crore, placing OG comfortably among the top 10 biggest Indian film openings. How high it climbs on the all-time list will depend on collections through the end of Thursday.

Directed by Sujeeth, OG features Pawan Kalyan as Ojas Gambheera, a gangster returning to Mumbai after a decade-long disappearance to confront rival crime boss Omi Bhau, played by Emraan Hashmi. The film also stars Priyanka Mohan, Sriya Reddy, Arjun Das, and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles, promising a mix of high-octane action and drama that has captivated audiences both in India and overseas.
