The Indian Institute of Technology IIT Kharagpur has posted a standout performance in its 2025–26 placement season, recording its highest-ever cost-to-company (CTC) offer of ₹2.44 crore during Phase I of campus recruitment.
According to official data, the institute secured a total of 1,501 job offers in the first phase of placements, including 457 pre-placement offers and 15 international roles. A major highlight of the season was IIT Kharagpur crossing the 1,000-offer mark in a single day—an achievement that underscores the strong demand for its graduates despite a challenging global job market.
The Phase I placement drive, conducted between December 1, 2025, and January 3, 2026, saw robust participation across a wide range of sectors. Recruiters came from technology, core engineering, finance, consulting, analytics, and manufacturing, reflecting the institute’s diverse academic and talent base.
Top global and Indian recruiters included Apple, Google, Microsoft, Tesla, Nvidia, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, JP Morgan Chase, Samsung, Airbus, Boeing, along with major Indian conglomerates such as the Tata Group.
Phase II of the placement process for the 2025–26 academic session began on January 16 and is expected to further add to the overall placement numbers.
Commenting on the outcome, Sanjay Gupta, Chairperson of the Career Development Centre (CDC) at IIT Kharagpur, said the results reflect the resilience of the institute’s placement ecosystem. He noted that the strong performance highlights the effectiveness of collaboration between students, faculty, alumni, and industry partners, even amid broader uncertainties in the employment landscape.
With record-breaking offers and sustained recruiter interest, IIT Kharagpur’s latest placement season reinforces its position as one of India’s leading talent hubs for global and domestic employers alike.
