Galgotias University was asked to leave its exhibition stall at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 after questions were raised about a robot dog displayed at the event.
The university had brought a four-legged robotic dog named “Orion” to the summit as part of its technology showcase. The robot attracted attention from visitors because of its smooth movement and smart features. However, soon after the display, people on social media claimed that the robot looked like the Unitree Go2, a product made by Chinese robotics company Unitree Robotics and already available in the market.
Images and videos comparing the two robots began circulating online. Some users alleged that the robot was being shown as the university’s own innovation. As the discussion grew, organizers of the summit reportedly asked the university to vacate its stall. Reports also suggested that electricity supply to the pavilion was stopped during the situation.
The India AI Impact Summit is an important platform where institutions, startups, policymakers and global companies come together to present new developments in artificial intelligence. Because of the summit’s scale and international presence, the issue quickly drew wider attention.
In its clarification, Galgotias University said the robot was brought only for demonstration and learning purposes. The institution stated that it did not claim to have manufactured the robot and that it was being used to give students exposure to advanced global technology. University representatives said the matter was being misunderstood and amplified online.
The incident has led to discussion about how products should be presented at large public events, especially when innovation and credibility are closely watched. Organizers have not yet shared detailed comments, and further updates are expected.
