Gujarat witnessed another disturbing case of school violence after a Class 8 student allegedly stabbed his classmate in Balasinor town of Mahisagar district. Police said the incident occurred on Thursday evening outside the gate of a government-run primary school. The victim, who sustained multiple stab wounds on his back, abdomen, and shoulder, was rushed to hospital. Doctors have confirmed that his condition is stable.
Superintendent of Police Jaydeepsinh Jadeja confirmed that an FIR has been registered against the accused juvenile based on a complaint filed by the injured boy’s father. “The student has been booked under sections 115 and 118 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing hurt with dangerous weapons,” the officer said. The victim’s father told police that the attack stemmed from a minor quarrel between the two classmates. “Over a small dispute, the boy took out a knife and stabbed my son,” he said.
Rising Concerns After Ahmedabad Incident
This attack comes close on the heels of a shocking murder in Ahmedabad, where a Class 10 student of Seventh Day Adventist School was fatally stabbed outside his school earlier this week. The boy died during treatment on Tuesday night, sparking outrage among parents and educators. Screenshots of students’ chats discussing the killing have also surfaced on social media, raising further alarm.
Another Case in Uttarakhand
In a separate violent episode in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, a Class 9 student opened fire on his physics teacher inside a classroom on Wednesday. According to police, the teenager admitted that he carried out the attack to avenge being slapped by the teacher two days earlier.
The teacher, who suffered a bullet injury on his shoulder, was taken to a private hospital and is reported to be out of danger. The student has been detained and will face proceedings before the juvenile justice board, officials confirmed.
