The controversy surrounding the song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke, featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, has intensified, with the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) demanding an immediate ban and legal action against its creators.
In a strongly worded statement, AICWA said the song promotes “vulgar and double-meaning content” and is unacceptable in Indian cinema, especially due to its potential impact on young audiences.
The association has formally written to Prasoon Joshi, Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), urging immediate intervention.
AICWA has made several key demands, including:
• Immediate ban on the song across all platforms
• Re-examination of the film by CBFC
• Filing of an FIR against the producers and creators
• Investigation into whether the controversy was created deliberately for publicity
The body also appealed to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to introduce stricter guidelines to curb what it described as a growing trend of obscene content in films.
The song is part of the upcoming pan-India film KD: The Devil, directed by Prem. It was released in multiple languages by Anand Audio. However, amid the backlash, the Hindi version of the track has reportedly been removed from YouTube.
Criticism of the song has been mounting, with several public figures, including Kangana Ranaut, Armaan Malik, and filmmaker Onir, raising concerns over its lyrics and visuals.
In addition, a legal complaint has been filed with the Delhi Police Cyber Cell, seeking action against the song for allegedly promoting obscene content and negatively influencing minors.
AICWA, in its statement, emphasised that while freedom of expression is important, it should not be misused in ways that undermine cultural values.
The controversy continues to grow, with further action from authorities and the film’s makers awaited.
