Ahan Shetty Opens Up on ‘Nepo Kid’ Label and Carrying Suniel Shetty’s Legacy as Border 2 Poster Drops

Ahan Shetty has stepped back into the spotlight with the release of his intense character poster from the upcoming war drama Border 2, marking his return to the big screen more than four years after his debut in Tadap. The poster shows him bloodied, armed and in full military gear, signalling a dramatic second outing—one made even more meaningful by the film’s connection to his father, Suniel Shetty, who played a memorable role in the iconic 1999 original Border.

Reflecting on the weight of expectations, Ahan said that pressure is inevitable for any actor today, but he recognises that stepping into a project so closely tied to his father amplifies it. He described the opportunity as a “divine legacy” and revealed that being a part of Border 2 felt like something he had manifested long before entering films. He recalled often telling people that Border was one of the main reasons he wanted to act, making it surreal that the sequel is now his second film.

Ahan acknowledged that beyond the responsibility of honouring his father’s legacy, he also carries the widely discussed “nepo kid” tag. Rather than avoiding the topic, he admitted that he is determined to prove he deserves his place in the industry. He said that the years since Tadap have taught him a great deal about himself and the workings of cinema, and he hopes audiences will see his growth and commitment.

With Border 2 now underway, Ahan emphasized his focus on hard work and self-improvement, expressing hope that viewers will accept him for his craft, not just his lineage. For him, the film represents not only a major professional milestone but also an emotional continuation of a legacy that is deeply personal.
