The Uttarakhand government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has launched a strong offensive against corruption, adopting a Zero Tolerance policy. The campaign has led to action against high-ranking officials, including IAS officer Ramvilas Yadav and IFS officer Kishan Chand, who face charges of amassing assets disproportionate to their income and misuse of power.

Senior Bureaucrats Face Investigation
The government has shown no leniency, targeting corrupt practices at all levels of the administration:

  • IAS Ramvilas Yadav: Accused of possessing assets beyond his known income.
  • IFS Kishan Chand: Alleged misuse of position and holding excessive wealth.
  • Former UKSSSC Chairman RBS Rawat: Involved in exam scam irregularities.
  • Horticulture Director Harminder Singh Baveja: Linked to financial irregularities.
  • Finance Controller Amit Jain: Accused of ignoring financial regulations.
  • Deputy GM Bhupendra Kumar: Caught accepting bribes.
  • PCS Officer Nidhi Yadav: Investigated following corruption complaints.
  • Revenue Officer Mahipal Singh: Caught red-handed while accepting a bribe.
  • Deputy Registrar Ramdatt Mishra: Implicated in land and stamp duty violations.
  • Officials from the State Tax Department: Also face action over negligence and corruption.

The government has even extended its action to retired officers found guilty of misconduct.

Massive Crackdown on Cheating Mafias in Recruitment Exams
As part of its broader effort to ensure clean governance, the government has cracked down on exam malpractice.

  • 57 cheating mafias involved in recruitment exams have been sent to jail.
  • 24 accused individuals have been charged under the Gangster Act for their involvement in paper leaks and exam fraud.
