India’s Operation Sindoor in Focus as MEA Holds Press Conference
The Ministry of External Affairs held a press conference Friday to address ongoing military actions under Operation Sindoor. Colonel Sophia Qureshi stated that India has delivered a “fitting and decisive” response to Pakistani provocations. She also criticized Pakistan for using its open civilian airspace as a shield against potential Indian missile and air strikes, violating international civil aviation norms.
Pakistan’s Drone Attacks Fail as India Activates Air Defense Systems
In a desperate response following the failure of its missile and drone attacks, the Pakistani military launched a series of drone strikes targeting 26 Indian cities from Baramulla to Bhuj on Friday evening. The attacks attempted to hit key locations including Srinagar Airport and Awantipora Airbase. India’s air defense systems successfully intercepted and neutralized most of the incoming drones.
Pakistan Targets Civilians and Religious Sites Along LoC
In addition to aerial aggression, Pakistani forces carried out heavy shelling overnight along the Line of Control (LoC), targeting civilian areas in Jammu and Kashmir. Mortars and artillery fire were reported in regions including Nowshera, Poonch, and Kupwara. Alarmingly, religious sites were also among the targets. India has responded robustly, intercepting every missile in the air and retaliating with precision.
India Closes Border Airspace, Pakistan Keeps Its Open
While India has officially closed airspace over border regions for civilian aircraft amid heightened tensions, Pakistan has not followed suit. According to MEA officials, this move is a deliberate tactic by Pakistan to use civilian airspace as a shield against Indian defense operations—a move India condemns as reckless and against global aviation laws.
