Transparent Lucky Draw for Private School Admissions
The Delhi government has successfully conducted a computerized lucky draw for admissions under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota in private schools for the academic session 2025-26. To enhance accessibility, the government has increased the annual income limit for eligibility from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh.
Ensuring Fairness and Transparency
Delhi Education Minister stated that to maintain transparency, parents, children, and media representatives were invited to witness the lucky draw process. The draw was fully computerized, eliminating any chances of human intervention.
The draw covered three categories:
- Nursery
- Kindergarten (KG/Pre-Primary)
- Class 1
Application and Selection Process
This year, approximately 2.5 lakh applications were received under the EWS quota. The list of selected students will be displayed in respective schools, and parents will be given a stipulated time to complete the admission process.
Government’s Stand on Inclusive Education
Delhi’s Education Minister highlighted that increasing the income limit and ensuring a fair selection process will help more underprivileged students access quality education. The government’s objective is to provide equal opportunities for all children through a just and transparent admission system.
These measures reflect Delhi’s commitment to improving educational accessibility and fairness for students from economically weaker backgrounds.
