Patna Police on Monday took swift action after a disturbing video surfaced showing two police officers beating a biker and abusing him on the six-lane Ganga Bridge. The clip, shared widely on social media, sparked massive public outrage and allegations of police high-handedness.
The video was first posted by user Utkarsh Mishra, who claimed that his friend was assaulted “without any reason,” calling it a “clear misuse of power” and demanding immediate suspension of the officers involved.
Following the backlash, Patna Police confirmed that both officials — Sub-Inspector Devkant Bunty and Constable Vishwanath Kumar — have been suspended with immediate effect. A challan was also issued to the biker involved for performing stunt riding.
What Happened?
The viral footage shows the biker being stopped at a police checkpoint on the Ganga Bridge. The rider stated he was on the spot for a video shoot and was not performing stunts at the time.
As the video went viral, public anger grew, demanding accountability for the officers’ behaviour. However, a second video soon surfaced showing someone allegedly associated with the police calling the youth and threatening him to delete the footage or face “arrest and false cases.” The biker refused.
