2,900 kg Explosives Seized From J&K Doctor’s Two Houses In Faridabad

Nearly 2,900 kilograms of suspected explosives have been recovered from two houses linked to a Jammu and Kashmir-based doctor in Haryana’s Faridabad, police said on Monday. The accused, identified as Dr. Mujammil Shakeel from Pulwama, has emerged as a central figure in what investigators describe as a “white-collar terrorist ecosystem” involving radicalised professionals, including doctors.

According to officials, the material—believed to be ammonium nitrate—was found at two locations rented by Shakeel. On Sunday, authorities had already seized 350 kilograms of explosives, assault rifles, handguns, timers, and ammunition from one of his rented accommodations in Faridabad’s Dhoj village. The second seizure of 2,563 kilograms took place from another house in Fatehpur Taga village, about four kilometres away.

Shakeel, who worked at Al Falah Medical College and Hospital in Faridabad, was arrested around ten days ago following evidence linking him to the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed. Police have also detained a maulana who owned one of the properties used to store the explosives.

Investigators say that the raids were part of a joint operation by the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir Police that has been ongoing for the past 15 days. The crackdown has led to the recovery of over 2,900 kilograms of explosive material, arms, ammunition, and documents detailing methods for assembling improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Officials revealed that the terror network was being operated by handlers based in Pakistan and other countries, with professionals such as doctors allegedly being recruited to aid logistics and propaganda.

So far, at least seven people, including Shakeel, have been arrested—among them Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, another Kashmiri doctor detained in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur, and several others from Srinagar, Shopian, and Ganderbal districts.

Police also recovered a Swift car belonging to a woman doctor from Al Falah Hospital, from which an assault rifle and pistol were found. She has since been arrested.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing to trace the wider network and international links of the group.
