Adani Defence & Aerospace, a key arm of the Adani Group, has been honoured with the prestigious Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) Champion Award 2025 for its state-of-the-art Ammunition Complex located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
The award was presented by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, recognising Adani Defence’s excellence in design, manufacturing, and testing within India’s growing defence sector.
Commenting on the achievement, Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace, said that the SIDM Champion Award is a testament to the company’s efforts to build an indigenous, technology-driven defence manufacturing ecosystem that enhances India’s self-reliance and strategic readiness. He added that the Kanpur Ammunition Complex exemplifies how Industry 4.0-led innovation and scale can redefine India’s defence production landscape.
Spread across 500 acres, the Kanpur facility is India’s most advanced and integrated ammunition manufacturing ecosystem. Built with Industry 4.0 standards, automation, and AI-driven precision systems, the complex ensures consistency, safety, and superior quality across small, medium, and large calibre ammunition.
The recognition reinforces Adani Defence’s role in advancing the government’s “Made in India, Made for the World” vision by strengthening the nation’s indigenous defence production capabilities.
In August, the company announced plans to nearly double its bullet production capacity in the coming months. Rajvanshi also revealed that Adani Defence will invest ₹7,000 crore over the next few years to expand operations, including an initial $1 million investment to begin missile production at the Kanpur plant.
The facility will also soon manufacture large-calibre ammunition, bulletproof jackets, drones, fighter aircraft, helicopters, and missiles, marking a major step forward in India’s march towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat and bolstering national defence preparedness through world-class infrastructure and innovation.
