Aadhaar Update Charges Hiked: Check New Fees and Services

Aadhaar update charges have been revised by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), making corrections or changes to demographic, biometric, and document-related details more expensive for residents. The new fee structure came into effect on October 1, 2025, and will remain valid until September 30, 2028, after which it will be reviewed again.

Demographic updates, including changes to name, address, date of birth, mobile number, or email, will now cost Rs 75 if done separately, up from Rs 50. There is no additional fee if demographic updates are combined with biometric updates. Biometric updates, which cover fingerprint scans, iris scans, and photographs, will now cost Rs 125, with a further increase to Rs 150 scheduled for October 2028.

Document-related updates, such as submitting proof of identity or address, will remain free on the myAadhaar portal until June 14, 2026. At enrolment centres, however, these updates will now cost Rs 75, up from Rs 50. Aadhaar printouts obtained through eKYC or other tools will be charged Rs 40 during the first phase and Rs 50 in the second phase.

To encourage timely updates for children, UIDAI has waived biometric fees for specific age groups. Children aged 5 to 7 and 15 to 17 years will receive their first mandatory biometric update for free. For children aged 7 to 15 years, biometric updates, which usually cost Rs 125, will be waived until September 30, 2026.

Residents are encouraged to complete their Aadhaar updates promptly to ensure uninterrupted access to government services and benefits linked to the unique identification system.
