Bihar has been placed on high alert after intelligence inputs suggested that three terrorists from Pakistan, linked to the banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, may have entered the state through Nepal.
The Bihar Police headquarters has circulated the names and photographs of the suspected terrorists — Hasnain from Rawalpindi, Adil from Umerkot, and Usman from Bahawalpur — to all district police units. The inputs indicate they crossed into Bihar through Araria, a border district.
Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar confirmed that a statewide alert has been issued. “All district police and other wings of Bihar Police have been directed to maintain extraordinary vigil, step up area domination patrolling, and intensify search operations to foil any anti-national activity,” he said, while declining to share further details.
Security has been tightened at key religious and tourist sites, including the Mahabodhi Temple Complex in Bodh Gaya, Vishwa Shanti Stupa in Rajgir, Mahaveer Temple, and Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji (Patna Sahib). Additional checks have also been put in place at airports and sensitive installations across the state.
Officials said the long and porous Bihar-Nepal border makes the state vulnerable to infiltration, prompting heightened surveillance in border districts.
