A major accident occurred at an under-construction residential project in Gurugram on Monday evening, where a wall collapse led to the loss of seven workers’ lives and left four others critically injured.
The incident took place at the Signature Global Society project in the Sidhrawali area. According to police officials, the wall suddenly gave way with a loud noise, causing debris to fall on labourers working nearby. Around 12 to 15 workers were feared trapped under the rubble.
Soon after the incident was reported, local police, district administration teams, and personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rushed to the location and launched an emergency rescue operation.
Rescue teams deployed heavy machinery to remove the debris and continued operations for nearly an hour to safely extricate the trapped workers. The injured labourers were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Hospital authorities confirmed that seven workers lost their lives, while four others remain in critical condition and are undergoing treatment.
Family members of the affected workers expressed grief and alleged negligence at the construction site. One relative claimed that loose soil suddenly caved in, which triggered the wall collapse. They also stated that company representatives did not meet them at the site and failed to address their concerns.
Officials informed that the workers have been kept at the Government District Hospital for necessary formalities. Authorities have initiated a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident and to fix responsibility.
